There is a strong link between the food you eat and the acne breakout on your skin. This has been discussed many times before and although, some of the theories fail to explain how certain food can trigger acne, it wouldn’t harm anyone to avoid foods that cause acne. One thing is for sure, certain food sources can improve the quality of your skin so it is possible that some food will have adverse effects on your skin, as well.

Dermatologists even agree that food rich in sugar can trigger acne. Chocolate, for instance is a big no-no for people with existing acne condition. Others with pimple problems might not find the connection but a lot of people do, so it is better to avoid it at all cost. Your body can react differently to different foods so attune your senses to the needs of your body not only to avoid acne but to avoid health conditions, as well. The rise of sugar levels in our blood can cause our body to excrete hormones. When our liver cannot handle excess hormones, the sebum glands can produce too much oil which can then set off acne activity.

There’s really no sure way to assess what food can make your skin suffer breakouts. Each body’s hormones are different in composition so the food that can cause problems to other people might have no effect in you at all. However, a lot of acne sufferers find common ground in certain foods. Foods that contain high level of toxins are found to aggravate acne problems. If the liver is unable to process toxins this can manifest in the skin as the toxins try to make an exit through the skin.

Avoiding foods that cause acne may or may not help your acne condition but it is definitely worth a try. Caffeine and refined sugar can produce excess hormones and worsen your pimples. Red meat and dairy products take a lot of time to process and when the waste product finally escapes the body through the skin, it can leave acne on its wake. Other foods to avoid are, nuts, processed and junk foods, tuna, and alcohol. Alcohol can prevent the body from getting enough rest so you’re actually doing yourself a favour by giving it up.

You may also unknowingly eat foods that cause acne everyday and you might often wonder why your acne is not subsiding despite constant treatment. Evaluate what you include in your diet and see if any food is causing you the problem. Stop at once.
